1911 - Three schools were formed from Fort Street Superior Public School. Fort Street Boys School and Fort Street Girls High School were established to provide secondary education. Fort Street Public School provided the primary education. All three schools existed on the one campus, in what is now the National Trust Headquarters.

1927 - Fort Street Boys High School was re-located to its present site on Parramatta Road, Petersham.

1942 - Fort Street Public School was re-housed in its present building

1970's - Fort Street Girls High School amalgamated with the boys to become Fort Street School. -

2006 - Fort Street Public School continues to offer quality primary education and is still used by Sydney Institute of Education and by The N.S.W. Conservatorium of Music as a practice teaching venue for their teacher trainees.
